What to Expect from a Heavy Jet

Heavy jets are the largest aircraft most people charter. They have wide stand-up cabins split into two or three seating areas, seats that fold flat into beds, a full galley and often a rear stateroom.

Most fly about 4,000 to 4,500 nautical miles nonstop, which covers New York to London, Miami to Madrid and any trip across the United States. Newer models like the Falcon 6X and 7X reach 5,500 miles or more.

Best For

  • Transatlantic and long overnight flights
  • Groups of 10 to 16, or families traveling with a lot of luggage
  • Trips where sleeping on board matters

Keep in Mind

  • They need longer runways, so a few small airports are out of reach.
  • On short trips a super-midsize is usually just as comfortable and costs much less.
