Booking

How do I book a private jet?

Enter your trip in the cost calculator or call us. We send two or three aircraft options with an itemized price. You sign the charter agreement and pay, and the aircraft is confirmed.

How far in advance should I book?

We can often arrange a flight within 3 hours of confirming. For holidays, ski season and big events, book one to four weeks ahead for the widest choice.

Can I book a one-way flight?

Yes. One-way charters are common, especially when your return is several days later.

How do I pay?

By wire transfer or card. Your quote and charter agreement show the payment terms before you confirm.

What happens if I need to change or cancel?

Changes are often possible before departure. Cancellation terms depend on the operator and how close to departure you cancel; they are set out in your charter agreement before you pay.

Pricing

Where can I see private jet prices?

Our pricing guide lists hourly rates for every jet size and sample prices for popular trips. For your exact route, dates and group, use the cost calculator.

Is the price per person?

No. You pay for the whole aircraft, whether one person flies or every seat is full.

What is not included in the hourly rate?

Federal excise tax on domestic flights, airport and handling fees, repositioning, crew overnights, de-icing and any extras such as catering. Your quote lists each one.

What is an empty leg?

A flight a jet must make without passengers, usually to its next job or home base. Operators sell these one-way trips at a discount. They are fixed to a date and route, so they suit flexible travelers.

Is a private jet cheaper than first class?

For one person, rarely. For a group on a shorter trip, the cost per person can come close, because you pay for the aircraft rather than each seat.

Aircraft and Luggage

Which size of jet do I need?

It depends on the number of passengers and the distance. Light jets suit trips of up to about three hours for small groups; super-midsize jets fly coast to coast; heavy jets carry larger groups and cross oceans.

How far can a private jet fly nonstop?

From about 1,400 nautical miles in a light jet to 6,000 or more in an ultra-long-range jet. Wind, weight and high-altitude airports shorten it.

How much luggage can I bring?

It depends on the aircraft. Tell us about skis, golf bags or large cases when you book so we pick an aircraft with enough space.

Can I bring golf clubs or skis?

Yes. A light jet usually carries about four golf bags or a few pairs of skis; larger jets carry more. Tell us your gear when you book.

On the Day

How early should I arrive?

Most passengers arrive 15 to 30 minutes before departure. International flights may need a little longer for document checks.

Do I go through airport security?

On most charter flights you do not pass through airline security checkpoints. The crew checks your ID and you board from the private terminal.

What ID do I need?

A government-issued photo ID for domestic flights and a valid passport for international flights. Some destinations also need visas.

Is there Wi-Fi and food on board?

Many midsize and larger jets have Wi-Fi. Catering can be arranged for any flight; ask when you book.

Should I tip the crew?

Tipping is optional and never expected. If you want to thank the crew, a cash envelope handed to the captain is the usual way.

Can I smoke on board?

Only on aircraft whose operator allows it, and most do not. Ask when you book. Cannabis is never allowed.

Pets, Groups and Special Trips

Can I bring my pet?

Usually, yes. Most operators allow dogs and cats in the cabin. Tell us your pet’s size and breed when you ask for a quote.

How many people can fly on a private jet?

From 4 or 5 on a very light jet to 19 on an ultra-long-range jet. For larger groups we arrange airliners or split the party across two jets.

Can you fly sports teams?

Yes. We arrange aircraft with room for players, staff and equipment, from single games to full seasons.

Can you arrange golf, hunting or ski trips?

Yes. We pick airports close to the resort, lodge or slopes and aircraft with room for clubs, guns or skis.

International Travel

Can I fly internationally?

Yes. We arrange international charters, including landing permits and customs, on aircraft with the range for the trip.

Where do I clear customs?

At your first airport in the destination country, which must have customs. Coming home, you land first at a US airport with customs; many private terminals have it on site.

What documents do I need?

A valid passport for everyone, plus any visa or travel authorization the destination requires. We need passenger details in advance so the operator can file them.

Do I need a passport for Puerto Rico?

Not if you are a US citizen. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are US territories; bring proof of citizenship.

Safety and Operators

Does Air1 Jets own the aircraft?

No. Air1 Jets arranges your flight as your agent. FAA Part 135 air carriers, or their foreign equivalents, operate the flights and keep operational control of the aircraft.

How do you choose operators?

We use operators with ARGUS or Wyvern safety ratings, and we check the specific aircraft and crew assigned to each trip through Air1 Clearance.

What is Part 135?

The FAA rules for on-demand commercial flights such as charters. They require more pilot training and checking, crew rest limits and stricter maintenance than private flying.

Will I know who is operating my flight?

Yes. We tell you the operator and the aircraft before you fly.
