Opa-locka airport guide
Miami is where US private flights to the Caribbean and Latin America begin, and most of them use Opa-locka.
Miami-Opa Locka Executive handles most of the city’s private jet traffic. It has on-site customs, long runways for nonstop flights to Europe, and it is 15 miles from Brickell. Miami International is closer to downtown but shares the airfield with airline traffic.
Demand here is very seasonal. Winter and Art Basel week are the peak periods, and summer is quieter, with the start of hurricane season.
Which airport is best depends on where you are going on the ground, the time of day and the aircraft.
