Short answer
There is no airline-style bag limit on a private jet, but every aircraft has a fixed baggage hold and a maximum weight. As a rough guide, a light jet carries about one medium suitcase and a carry-on per passenger, a midsize jet a little more, and super-midsize and larger jets carry full luggage for everyone. Soft bags fit best. Tell us about golf bags, skis, pets and anything oversized when you book.
On a charter there are no bag fees and no checked-bag counter: your bags are loaded at the aircraft. The limits come from the aircraft itself: how much space is in the hold, and how much weight it can carry.
Baggage by Jet Size
These are rough guides for a full cabin. With fewer passengers, there is more room for bags.
| Jet size | Typical luggage per passenger |
|---|---|
| Very light jet | A small bag or carry-on |
| Light jet | A medium suitcase and a small bag |
| Turboprop (PC-12) | Generous; good for bulky items |
| Midsize jet | A medium-to-large suitcase and a small bag |
| Super-midsize jet | A large suitcase and a small bag |
| Heavy jet | Full luggage for long stays |
Weight Matters as Much as Space
Every aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight shared by passengers, bags and fuel. On short trips it rarely matters. It can on:
- Long flights, where the jet needs a full fuel load
- High-altitude airports such as Aspen, where thin air reduces takeoff weight
- Hot days, which have the same effect
If you are bringing a lot, tell us, and we will choose an aircraft with room to spare.
Packing Tips
- Soft bags fit the shape of the hold; hard cases waste space.
- Keep a small bag with you for medication, chargers and valuables.
- Count everything, including golf bags, skis, strollers and car seats.
