Zurich airport guide
Davos has no airport of its own, so private flyers to the World Economic Forum land in Zurich, St. Gallen-Altenrhein or Samedan and continue by car or train.
Forum week brings heads of state, CEOs and their teams to a small Alpine town in the middle of winter. Business-aviation slots and parking at the nearby Swiss airports fill up weeks ahead.
Zurich handles every size of jet and is about 2 hr 30 min from Davos by road. St. Gallen-Altenrhein is closer for light and midsize jets, and Samedan, Europe’s highest airport, is about an hour away but only suits approved aircraft and crews.
Swiss airports manage business-aviation slots closely during Forum week. Book as soon as your dates are set.
Mountain roads can be slow in snow. Allow extra time between landing and your first meeting.
Heavy and ultra-long-range jets from the US land in Zurich. Smaller jets can use St. Gallen-Altenrhein, and approved crews can fly into Samedan.
Snow and de-icing are routine in late January; build in time on both ends.
Distances are straight-line to Davos Congress Centre.
